This should work under 1.62.  I thik earlier versions had a bug that prevented
this.

To clarify, one has to recompile snap to make the MMB do what the RMB does by
default, i.e., perform the insert action.  If you just want to use the MMB as a
qualifier, the option you mentioned should work.
