- When I got my 4000, I was unable to get sprites to work. They just
- wouldn't appear on the display. After asking about this, I got a few
- replies which said things like, "You problem is caused by overscan",
- or "your workbench screen is too far to the left".
-
- However, after playing with it a little more, I'm still not convinced,
- and I'm wondering if it could be a hardware problem with my machine.
- I have tried the following:
-
- * Use a 640x200, non-overscan workbench, in 2 planes, moved as far
- right as prefs will allow, in plane old NTSC mode (no DBLNTSC or
- anything fancy like that). Still no sprites.
-
- I've tried it all. I've tried games which use sprites in 320x200
- screens. I've tried programs which display sprites on the workbench
- screen. I've tried programs which use sprites on custom screens. I've
- tried demos which use sprites. I've reduced overscan to the absolute
- minimum permitted by the preferences tools, and used the overscan
- editor to move the display area all around. Still nothing. The
- symptoms are univerally the same: the programs run OK, but no sprites
- are displayed (except my cursor).
-
- What are the chances of such a thing being caused by a hardware
- problem with my machine?
