  19. Yes, sure, else everyone would have already done it :-). The PC slots
  20. are simply not connected to anything from the Amiga side! They just
  21. carry some power lines, and else all the signal lines of all PC slots
  22. are connected on their bus, but that's it. You need some "bridgeboard"
  23. that plugs into a PC slot *and* an Amiga slot and carries some electronics
  24. to make this PC bus accessable.

  26. There are two kinds of bridgeboards:
  27. a) Active ones that carry a whole PC or AT on them. Examples are the
  28.    Commodore ones A2088, A2286, A2386SX and the Vortex (?) GoldenGate card.
  29. b) Passive ones that just connect the PC bus as a peripheral bus to the
  30.    Amiga bus. There we have as examples the GoldenGate II as a Public
  31.    Domain project by David Salamon (yes, there is a name collision with
  32.    that other GoldenGate card!); plus some new cards from Germany like
  33.    OmniBus and one other (name escapes me, sorry). The latter two are
  34.    specialized to make only VGA cards available on the Amiga bus,
  35.    nothing else, where the GoldenGate II also can access other I/O cards.

  37. And as last point, you also need software drivers to get your data on
  38. such a card. The Amiga OS will make this easier with RTG announced
  39. for OS 4.0.
