-
- Yes, sure, else everyone would have already done it :-). The PC slots
- are simply not connected to anything from the Amiga side! They just
- carry some power lines, and else all the signal lines of all PC slots
- are connected on their bus, but that's it. You need some "bridgeboard"
- that plugs into a PC slot *and* an Amiga slot and carries some electronics
- to make this PC bus accessable.
-
- There are two kinds of bridgeboards:
- a) Active ones that carry a whole PC or AT on them. Examples are the
- Commodore ones A2088, A2286, A2386SX and the Vortex (?) GoldenGate card.
- b) Passive ones that just connect the PC bus as a peripheral bus to the
- Amiga bus. There we have as examples the GoldenGate II as a Public
- Domain project by David Salamon (yes, there is a name collision with
- that other GoldenGate card!); plus some new cards from Germany like
- OmniBus and one other (name escapes me, sorry). The latter two are
- specialized to make only VGA cards available on the Amiga bus,
- nothing else, where the GoldenGate II also can access other I/O cards.
-
- And as last point, you also need software drivers to get your data on
- such a card. The Amiga OS will make this easier with RTG announced
- for OS 4.0.
