- I don't have any real insights but I can share my experience with also
- having 2 bad power supplies on an A3000. My A3000, within 24 hours of
- delivery, would every now and then have its power light dim, its fan
- wind down, and would then reboot. Sometimes it would take several tries
- to boot and sometimes I'd have to shut it down and wait a while, then
- try again to get it up. A call to Gold Service got me a new power supply
- installed and that one also failed within two weeks, the initial symptom
- being frequent read errors from during HD access. Another call to Gold
- Service brought me another supply and that one hase functioned without
- problem for about a year and a half to two years now.
-
- So, it seemed to me that C= gets an unusual number of marginal supplies.
- I don't know why SCSI access should place a load on the power supply, it
- doesn't make sense to me, but that is where my machine would most often
- fail, even if the access was to an external device (a Syquest) with its
- own power.
