  18. Banding mainly depends on the depth of the palette. While HAM8 can show
  19. all possible 16 Million colors most colors can only be changed with
  20. a 6bit resolution of each prime color. This is not sufficient to avoid
  21. banding.
  22. To be exact, even a true 24bit display is not sufficient to avoid banding
  23. in all cases.

  25. One can use dithering techniques to hide banding at the cost of reduced
  26. spatial resolution. I'm not sure how sophisticated the dithering of AdPro
  27. is.
