- Well, of course there is overhead, but the newer X11 servers have
- proven to be quite fast. Most of the overhead comes from an
- extra copy of each frame as the data has to be moved to a different
- process (xanim doesn't use the shared memory extension of X11R5).

- The 40MHz DECstation btw runs animations about twice as fast as an
- A3000. This is quite independant of depth as the display is always
- an 8bit display.
