-
- I beg to differ.
-
- I am using a SupraModem 2400 Plus (2400bps wi MNP2-5 and v.42/v.42bis)
- and have been having no end of trouble when connected with the advanced
- features turned on.
-
- Problem 1: Connections using v.42bis will break (drop carrier) anywhere
- from 15-min to 2-hrs into the connection when connected to
- a U.S. Robotics HST Dual Standard. (All other connection
- modes [v.42 only, MNP 2-5] work flawlessly for indefinite
- periods of time.)
-
- Problem 2: All EC/DC connections to Practical Peripherals 14400FXSA
- modems drop carrier anywhere from 5-min to 2-hrs into the
- connection. This means I must turn all the features off and
- be a plain 2400bps modem. This defeats the purpose of me
- even having an error-correcting modem in the first place!
-
- I talked to Supra Tech Support and they are baffled and insist that the
- remote modem is at fault. My sysAdmin insists that it's MY modem's fault
- and states that I am the only user wh has trouble staying connected.
-
- This one system (from which I am posting now, blkbox.com) is the only
- place I call that gives me this trouble.
-
- Some relief has been found by setting my modem to ignore changes in
- the DTR signal. Problem 1 (above) appears to have been eliminated.
- Problem 2 still exists, but the average connection time has lenghtend
- to 2 hours. Still, the connection breaks.
-
- I have full hardware handshaking enabled. the only changes to the
- &F2 factory default are '&C0 &D0' to force CD true and ignore DTR.
-
- I look forward to feedback from other SupraModem 2400 Plus users.
