  23.     Excuse me, but I do know how to read the manual, and have read it and 
  24. know many of the options that are available. However, nowhere in the manual 
  25. does it say:

  27.     &SN - this command stops the hissing noise when the brand new modem
  28.     is turned on every single time and is otherwise not being used
  29.  
  30.     &NMF - this is the special No More Flicker mode, which causes your
  31.     LED display to stop flickering while online. This also causes the
  32.     display to not flicker while offline and pressing the DELETE key or
  33.     BACKSPACE key. And last of all, it turns off the gradiated intensity
  34.     levels of the LED display from the upper left to the lower right of
  35.     the display.

  37.     %DP - this command turns those dead pixels from your new modem back 
  38.     on
  39.  
  40.     M6 - this is for those of you with speakers that don't make any noise.
  41.     it is accomplished by making it REALLY loud

  43.     S0=-1 - this sets the modem to answer the phone at random numbers of
  44.     rings. Sometimes after none, one, six, or never. Great if you are
  45.     running a BBS

  47.     HA - this option means 'hang up the phone immediately whenever someone
  48.     calls and don't even try to connect'
  49.  
  50.     %c7 - this turns on MNP-level 30 compression, and there is no way
  51.     to disable it. Unfortunately no other modems support this, so when
  52.     someone tries to connect, we send this signal first so that they
  53.     will never connect. And to make it better, we don't ever stop until 
  54.     the power is turned off to keep those nasty modem users from calling
  55.     our bbs ever again

  57.     &NS - this command makes you unable to connect to other Supra modems
  58.  
  59.     &RDC - this is the Random Drop Carrier option, which causes your
  60.     modem to suddenly hang up while you are online
  61.  
  62.     &T8 - this is the internal line quality test option. It always 
  63.     returns "Your modem is working fine, but you have lots of line noise"
  64.     even though you never see any line noise, and none of your other 
  65.     modmes have any of the problems listed above.

  69.     Just for your information, I recently installed a non-Supra modem.
  70. It answers the phone. It connects. It even lets people log in. I admit it
  71. doesn't report their speed correctly using W2 (as there is no W2), and I 
  72. have had some trouble so far, but it is better than not having connections
  73. made AT ALL. Now you can yell at me for not reading the 120 page manual for
  74. the new modem...but I promise I will do it today.

  77. modems...my SupraFAX 14.4 for yours.
