- My experiece with DSS 8 is good, and with GVP is bad. Yes, the DSS 8
- does a decent sampling job using the supplied software package. You have a
- choice of mono or stereo sampling, and a choice of line or microphone inputs
- which is very flexible. I expect that if all you want to do is take sound
- samples for playback in a sound demo, then DSS 8 is more than adequate. You
- will be limited to using the supplied software, since DSS 8 is supported by
- little other available sampling software.
-
- HOWEVER, if you have any interest in writing your own programs to access
- DSS 8 hardware FORGET IT. GVP is uninterested in you or your insignificant
- questions. The documentation supplied is useless for programmers, their
- "Customer Support" folks know nothing technical, and they will not even
- answer the mail if you write them a nice letter asking for technical
- information.
