- You might want to look at Fish disks - they don't really have the best stuff,
- and a lot of the stuff on them is plain - well I can't really use that word
- on the net, but there are handy database programs all over the place for them.
- My favorite is FishCat, even though its interface needs some work. I've looked
- at KingFisher (gag me with a spoon, but I can't stand its 1.3ishness), and I
- used Aquarium for a while (which is probably why I like the check-mark category
- searching on FishCat). Anyway, these things are all available on
- ux1.cso.uiuc.edu here in the good new USA, under /amiga/fish somewhere. There
- are a lot of great utilities for ADOS2 that get outmoded by ADOS3, like
- NickPrefs, which allows backdrop images, gets rid of floppy drive clicks, lets
- you animate your busy pointer, and so on. There's BellPrefs, which can set a
- new systembeep (which gets trigged when a call to DisplayBeep() is made, so
- in ProWrite, for example, you want it to be set to "Screen flash," which was
- the standard result of a DisplayBeep() under ADOS2). I'd also get ToolManager,
- a very nice thingamabob that can build docks (almost as good as the NeXT's,
- except of course that you can't drag things onto them (you have to drag them
- into the config window instead), but that's understandable since the Amiga
- doesn't have a standard icon size (which kind of sucks for some things, but
- it's the American way ;) )), add items to the "Tools" menu, and set up AppIcons
- for things like text readers (Set it up with MultiView under 3 for an easy
- display-whatever-you-like click-drag operation), so you can just drag the file
- onto it and read away (or click on it and select the "More..." option you've
- added to the Tools menu). Can you tell I used LISP too much in High School?
