- I've been trying, with no success, to upgrade a .5MB pc7300 with a 2MB
- board. The catch: the 2MB board was minus the chips. Figuring that the
- chips from the .5MB board would plug 'n' play, I transferred the chips
- over and fired up the new board, with dissappointing results. Upon
- powering up, the hard disk does wake up, and other familiar noises
- occur (but no beeping), and then the screen shows a lovely pattern of
- alternating thin bars. No boot occurs; the floppy disk drive is not
- consulted. Hardware reset momentarily changes the screen
- to the weird reset screen, then returns immediately to the screen
- above. Reset does not do anything else.
-
- Questions: What the (regular expression deleted) is the problem? Is
- there an incompatibility (in ROM chips, perhaps) between the .5MB and
- the 2MB boards?
-
- If anyone knows the answers, I'd really like to know how to proceed on
- this mildly educational journey.
-
- Thanks 1.5M (=2M-.5M) in advance,
-
- Jim
