- I don't know if it is different in different countries, but at least
- in Denmark the rule is that the week with the first Thursday is week
- 1. If the 1st of January is Friday through Sunday, this is in week 52
- or 53. In 1993 it is week 53, in 1994 it will be week 52.

- Some printers of calenders in Denmark made the mistake of printing
- large quantities of calenders with Jan. 1st being in week one. They
- had to recall these. and sell them with warning labels at much reduced
- prices. Such an error may have caused the discrepancy between the
- diaries you have seen.
