- First of all, that's not true, or at least it's not true of all
- implementations of vacation. Here, I'll quote from the man page for
- the SunOS version:
-
- No message is sent if the `To:' or the `Cc:' line does not
- list the user to whom the original message was sent or one
- of a number of aliases for them, if the initial From line
- includes the string -REQUEST@, or if a `Precedence: bulk' or
- `Precedence: junk' line is included in the header.
-
- Secondly, the best program I've found along these lines is procmail.
- It's available for ftp; here's the relevant section from the README file:
-
- ----------------------
- A recent version can be picked up at various comp.sources.misc archives.
- The latest version can be obtained directly from the ftp-archive at:
-
- ftp.informatik.rwth-aachen.de (137.226.112.31)
-
- as compressed tar file: pub/unix/procmail.tar.Z <128KB
- or in compressed shar format: pub/unix/procmail.0?.Z
- ----------------------
-
- The version I'm running is identified as 2.70, and I've never had the
- tiniest bit of trouble with it.
