  17. Unfortunately, systems don't control these things, people do.  There
  18. are however commercial products that can support doing these things.
  19. Typical are the repository systems, such as Caseware/CM and Atherton
  20. Software BackPlane. But there are also configuration management
  21. systems such as Atria ClearCase and TeamOne in which the repository
  22. looks more like a native file system.

  24. Many people mix and match components from several vendors for best of class
  25. solns: e.g. Caseware/CM for version control and configuration management, Merge
  26. Ahead from Prescient Software for merging parallel development lines,
  27. HP Softbench for intertool messaging, Remedy's change management
  28. system for task management and traceability, etc.
