- I'm attemting to use the slip8250 packet driver with pc gopher II,
- qvtnet, and ncsa telnet for connecting via dialup line with the
- Internet. I couldn't get this to work at all with the default
- settings for maximum transfer unit, tcp window, etc. Now I
- have set these values to 212 bytes and I can get telnet connections
- and can make a gopher connection to a nearby server. However
- when I attempt to us ftp or go to the umn gopher server, I
- get fragmented packets again and the system hangs.
-
- There seems to be something in the slip setup I use which chokes
- the packets down to a maximum around 254 bytes. Is that a slip
- limitation. It's puzzling because I can use the ka9q communications
- package and textwin without any problem and the mtu is set to
- 532. Perhaps ka9q is able to deal with fragmented packets?!?!
-
- Any ideas or leads to sources of information would be appreciated.
