- I am using Brixton PPP version 1.2 on a SparcStation 1+ clone with an
- Aurora Technologies 4-port sync card. I am trying to connect with
- a Cisco router at the other end (don't know anything about it, except
-
- I once connected 3Com NetBuilder and Cisco together with PPP.
- Fortunately I had protocol analyzer, so I could see what
- happens on serial line.
-
- Cisco doesn't support any negotiation of parameters. If other side
- tries to negotiate ANY parameter, Cisco discards request.
-
- NetBuilder didn't negotiate any parameters in LCP -> no problem.
-
- NetBuilder wanted to "negotiate" IP addresses with IPCP. Cisco
- discarded request. NetBuilder was smart enough to try again
- without any IPCP parameters, and IPCP got up. (However, when
- NB didn't get Cisco's IP address via IPCP, I had to add static
- route for it.)
-
- I have done this with Cisco software 8.? and 9.0.
-
- My guess for your case: Brixton tries to negotiate some IPCP
- parameters, and Cisco doesn't like it. Unnumbered interface on
- Cisco might also cause problems.
