- In developing and debugging netatalk 1.3 here at Michigan, we've
- noticed a couple of strange things about proteon's appletalk router.
- Since we no longer have a proteon here in our building and our campus
- is switching to ciscos, I'm passing this information on to someone who
- might continue to find it useful.
-
- Proteon drops packet when it has no AARP entry for a destination.
- This has the effect of dropping the first packet for a destination
- while waiting for the AARP request to complete.
-
- Proteon seems to treat AARP Probes like AARP Responses. This has
- the effect of temporarily redirecting packets to the wrong
- address. Can be serious if the Probed address belongs to a
- router. Not sure how it rights itself, but this effect seem to
- occur only during Probing, not after an unused address has been
- selected.
