- Hello,
-
- Several people have responded to the inquiry about keeping LOGIN.COM from
- running. There were several people whom suggested something like the
- Following:
-
- >> Username: <your-account> /NOCOMMAND
- >> Password: <as normal> ~~~~~~~~~~
-
- The problem with the above response is that the responder's did not read the
- original posting!!! The original posting asked for a system management way
- of keeping LOGIN.COM from running when running an RSHELL command from another
- machine, probally a unix box.
-
- My response was partially incorrect as I did not take into account the RSHELL.
- I did however suggest modifying the LGICMD flag in the UAF record. I assume
- the poster wanted the LOGIN.COM, not to run only when the login was NETWORK,
- for an RSHELL or rsh command. Both Aaron Leonard and Ehud Gavron had the
- correct complete responses, refer back to those to see the solution.
-
- When a RSHELL or rsh command is run from another machine a non-interactive
- process logs in to an account and does one or more commands. You do not want
- any type of unwanted output to be displayed, your unix machine will interpret
- that output as an error exit status and the RSHELL or rsh will most likely
- fail. Therefore the reason for the original posting.
