- Nothing like following up to ones own post but, I guess I left out a
- few facts in the first post.
-
- One: I already know how to set file protections.
- Two: I DO NOT want my directory world readable.
- (I often use filenames that contain either people's names and/or
- obcenities so that they stand out when I list them).
- (OK, I'm a little nuts, so what?)
-
- I want to leave the protection on DSK3:[BDOWNING] (WRED,RWED,,)
- But I want the protection on DSK3:[BDOWNING].PLAN (WRED,RWED,,R)
-
- FINGER won't allow anyone to see the .PLAN file without me first
- setting my directory world readable.
-
- Now the readl question, is there any way around this?
-
- Oh by the way, someone asked why I FINGER myuserid in my LOGIN.COM
- rather than just TYPEing the .PLAN file. I use MM because I think
- VMS MAIL stinks and MULTINET's FINGER will tell me if I have new MM
- messages when I FINGER myuserid.
-
- Thanks again,
-
