  26.  Nothing like following up to ones own post but, I guess I left out a
  27.  few facts in the first post.

  29.   One: I already know how to set file protections.
  30.   Two: I DO NOT want my directory world readable.
  31.       (I often use filenames that contain either people's names and/or
  32.        obcenities so that they stand out when I list them).
  33.        (OK, I'm a little nuts, so what?)

  35.  I want to leave the protection on DSK3:[BDOWNING] (WRED,RWED,,)
  36.  But I want the protection on DSK3:[BDOWNING].PLAN (WRED,RWED,,R)

  38.  FINGER won't allow anyone to see the .PLAN file without me first
  39.  setting my directory world readable.

  41.  Now the readl question, is there any way around this?

  43.  Oh by the way, someone asked why I FINGER myuserid in my LOGIN.COM
  44.  rather than just TYPEing the .PLAN file. I use MM because I think
  45.  VMS MAIL stinks and MULTINET's FINGER will tell me if I have new MM
  46.  messages when I FINGER myuserid.
