  31. Question: Why didn't you use callable mail routines?
  32. Personally, I'd be very squeemish about running the code that you posted...
  33. specially if file formats ever get changed.  Yah, I know, callable mail only
  34. exists in VMS 5.x and isn't supported until, um, 5.4(?)... but still...
  35. (This isn't a flame... just genuinely curious.)

  37. I've got a "newmail count fixer" routine built into my COMPRESS_MAIL and
  38. FROM programs... but they're written in VAX Pascal.  I suppose I could always
  39. compile with the /MACHINE qualifier to generate Macro code to make it more
  40. "portable"... <evil grin>...
