  27. SYMPOSIUM:  IPPS '93 will be held April 13-16, 1993 at the
  28. Newport Beach Marriott Hotel and Tennis Club, Newport
  29. Beach, California.  The symposium is sponsored by IEEE
  30. Computer Society and is held in cooperation with ACM
  31. SIGARCH.  IPPS '93 is a forum for engineers and scientists
  32. from around the world to present the latest research
  33. findings in all aspects of parallel and distributed
  34. processing.
  35.  
  36. WORKSHOP: The workshop will be held on the first day of the
  37. symposium (April 13, 1993).  The workshop will focus on the
  38. I/O bottleneck facing parallel computer systems for many
  39. important applications such as multimedia information
  40. systems and volume visualization.  Recognition of the
  41. importance of this problem has been growing steadily, and
  42. proposed solutions include approaches based upon new
  43. hardware, architecture, systems software and algorithms.
  44. The workshop will bring together researchers in order to
  45. foster further research on these approaches and their
  46. integration into comprehensive systems solutions.

  48. Papers are invited demonstrating original unpublished
  49. research.  Topics of interest include, but are not limited
  50. to:
  51.  
  52.     High-speed storage and channels            
  53.     I/O interconnection architectures
  54.     Concurrent file systems
  55.     Compiler support for parallel I/O            
  56.     Scheduling algorithms and heuristics
  57.     Data and resource allocation
  58.     Application profiling and benchmarking
  59.     Performance of I/O subsystems
  60.  
  61. SUBMITTING PAPERS: All papers will be reviewed.  The first
  62. page must include a 100-word abstract and the name,
  63. address, telephone number and electronic mail address of
  64. the author to whom correspondence is to be sent.  The
  65. manuscript should be at most 20 pages long (including
  66. figures and references).  Papers will be collected into a
  67. proceedings and distributed at the workshop.  Five copies
  68. of the paper should be sent to one of the two addresses
