- Funny you should mention that. We currently market via OEM channels the
- "IBM Personal/370 Adapter/A". This is a "real" 370 co-processor on a single
- MicroChannel Card. It contains 16M of on card memory and executes the
- complete 370 instruction set, including DAT, PER, keys, extended floating
- point, VM assist, etc..
-
- The P/370 is a single card 370 engine that runs the full System/370
- architecture. Its roughly equivalent to a mid-size 4381. It supports
- the full 370 architecture, and can run VM/ESA 370 feature, as well as
- VM/SP 5, VM/SP 6, and DOS/VSE and applications that run under those
- operating systems. Both code and applications are binary compatible
- with the host. **NO** modifications or recompilations are required to run
- on the P/370.
-
- The PS/2 acts as the 370's I/O subsystem. It acts as the channel and
- devices for the VM or VSE applications running in the P/370 or 7437.
-
- The P/370 runs with OS/2 2.0. At the same time you are running VM or VSE
- applications, you can also be running DOS or OS/2 or windows applications
- like LOTUS, FREELANCE, etc.
-
- The workstation can also be used for Software Development, Publishing and
- Geophysical Mapping applications. Since it is a true VM system, all VM
- software should run on the box. It can also run run DOS/VSE native, which
- means CICS applications can be supported. (Even though there is an OS/2
- version of CICS, there are advantages to running a binary compatible, EBCDIC
- 100% host compatible version, which the OS/2 version is not.)
-
- The device emulation support does not emulate (E)CKD DASD. Only operating
- systems that support FBA DASD will run on the P/370. MVS does no support
- FBA DASD so camnot currently run on the P/370 (though support is being looked
- at for a future release).
-
-
- The channel software makes the token ring look like a 3088 to VM or VSE.
- You can put multiple P/370's on a LAN, and run RSCS, PVM, TSAF, SFS, etc.
- between them, just like you would connect multiple ES 9000 or 3090 systems
- together.
-
- Support is being worked on for XA and ESA versions. If you would like more
- information, send me a FAX number and I'll send you some.
