- This may be old hat, but it's news to me.
-
- I was just messing around with my Bernoulli 44Mb drive, and I noticed as has
- everyone else that deals with them that OS/2 will not read Bernoulli disks.
- The obvious solution is to shell out $49 for the drivers from IOmega. I've
- been using the dual boot to get at the information I have archived.
-
- Just on a whim, I tried to format a Bernoulli under OS/2. What happened you
- ask? The disk was formatted.
- I copied information to the disk, and turned off the computer, and the
- information was there intact when I turned it back on.
-
- Then, I booted with DOS and tried to read the disk. This resulted in errors
- similar to those OS/2 gave when trying to read the old disks.
-
- Conclusion:
- Bernoullis formatted under DOS can only be read in DOS or in OS/2 with
- drivers.
- Bernoullis can be formatted and used under OS/2 without drivers, but they
- will be unusable in DOS.
-
- My question:
- Can anybody confirm/explain this? I'm assuming that it's because OS/2
- doesn't know how to deal with the standard Bernoulli file system.
-
- Please mail comments, I'll post a conclusion if necessary.
