- Recently, I had posted a message about my brother trying to upgrade from OS/2
- 1.x to 2.0. The point of the message was that IBM forgot to enclose the form
- in their envelope with the letter and thus my brother was unable to get it in
- in time. IBM said too bad and wouldn't take the fact that they (IBM) screwed
- up by not including the form into consideration.
-
- I had received alot of response from various people from this group offering
- to help or suggesting ideas. Unfortunately, IBM still wouldn't budge. I thank
- you for you help anyway.
-
- Finally, my brother filed a complaint with the Department of Consumer Affairs
- and within weeks a copy of OS/2 2.0 arrived via express mail with an appology
- letter. Basically, their letter (from IBM) applogized, told him they valued
- him as a customer, and even said that they would reevaluate their policy.
-
- The real point of this whole episode is how does IBM expect to have loyal
- customers when they treat them like that. Have they ever heard, "the customer
- is always right"? I doubt Microsoft would have been so unwilling to help him.
- Now he's looking into purchasing a laser printer. It was a toss up between
- IBM and HP but with the bad service he received from IBM, I'm sure he'll
- go with HP. (Not to mention the HP is a better printer.)
-
- Anyway, I just thought I'd let everyone who was helpful in this matter know
- how it was resolved.
