- I installed NT just fine with OS/2 and Boot Manager already installed. The catch I ran into is
- that I have to deactivate the Boot Manager partition before doing anything with NT. My hard
- drive setup is as follows:
-
- Drive 1: (202MB)
- Partition 1: FAT Primary (201MB) Has Windows/DOS and Windows/NT
- Partition 2: Boot Manager
-
- Drive 2: (202MB)
- Partition 1: FAT/HPFS Extended Logical Partition (140MB)
- Partition 2: HPFS Primary (62 MB) Has OS/2
-
- I had this setup with Windows/DOS and OS/2 before I installed NT. I had boot manager active and
- could select in either OS/2 or DOS. To install NT, I made DOS the active partition and ended up
- with NT's Flexboot having me select between DOS or NT. To use OS/2 I have to fdisk from DOS to
- make boot manager active. What does NOT work is to use boot manager to then get to flex boot on
- the drive1/partition1. When I need to switch out of OS/2, I use fdiskpm to make
- drive1/partition1 active (disabling boot manager), thus will boot into flexboot. In summary,
- having boot manager installed did not cause me a problem, having it the active partition did.
- This situation is not optimal, but does work without having to resort to any floppy boots. By
- the way, I did this with the October NT release.
