- I am still having problems getting these drivers to work. I have
- tried the above and many other suggestions. I have followed the install notes
- to the letter and still I end up with a hung system. I have also tinkered
- around with the generated PMI file and this does make a difference.
-
- ALL the correct files have been copied and the DISPLAY.DLL is also correct.
- System is GA + CSD.
-
- I am rather curious to know if the SVGADATA.PMI is being generated correctly.
- From an OS/2 full screen dos session if SVGA ON DOS is entered then an
- SVGADATA.DOS file of 4940 bytes is created, with IBM Chipset type IBMSVGA.
- On the other hand if I enter SVGA ON a SVGADATA.PMI file of 21488 bytes is
- generated with chipset TRIDENT type TR8900. Which is correct ? I assume the
- IBM type as IBMDEV32.DLL contains the driver.
-
- As an experiment I doctored the larger file by renaming TRIDENT to IBM and
- TR8900 to IBMSVGA. The results led me to the conclusion that the problems
- I am having lie with the generation of the PMI file. When I rebooted with the
- doctored PMI file the display lost sync, BUT at least what was displayed
- appeared to be 1024x768 or 800x600 depending on the IBMDEV32.DLL driver I
- installed.
-
- Any chance of someone sending me a copy of their SVGADATA.PMI/DOS. I would be
- very grateful as at the very least I could compare and eliminate errors with
- the generation of this file.
