- Boy, are we on the same wavelength or what ? I just solved that problem
- yesterday !
- Ill describe the fix for the toshiba, but it can work for any drive:
-
- The plug on the SB card looks like :
-
- --- ---
- | 1 2 3 4 |
- -----------
-
- 1 = ground
- 2 = left channel
- 3 = ground
- 4 = right channel
-
- Get the cable from creative labs for their own CD ($6.00) direct from CL.
- Use a small screw driver to remove the leads from one end, and plug the other
- into the blaster. Your free end should now be:
-
- white = left
- black = ground
- red = right
-
- Find the output connector on the back of your CD (the audio output !). Find
- the pinout in the manual (or get it from the maker). You should be able to
- just slide the connectors from the SB cable onto the male pins. Worst case,
- you would have to cut the ends and solder them on. Be sure that you dont have
- a short resulting from the bare pins touching (use tape if required).
- Note: if you don't have any connector for audio on the back, you can solder
- directly to the back of the headphone jack in the front (requires opening
- the unit).
- Note: don't do this on Creative labs own CD ! RDFM !
-
- Works great as decribed on a toshiba 3301 CD rom drive (the recommended
- os/2 2.0 drive).
-
- GOOD LUCK ! [sam]
