- I had great hopes of the newly released Trident 32bit drivers, but as
- yet to no avail. I have been trying to get SVGA working on OS/2 2.0 since
- it went GA in April this year, and this has turned somewhat into a crusade
- Other folk can get the Trident drivers to work so why not me ?
-
- I installed the latest drivers, exactly as per the notes, ie:-
-
- 1. In a pure DOS session -
- Copyied over the new SVGA.EXE and ran SVGA ON DOS. Why did this create
- SVGADATA.PMI for an IBMSVGA Chipset ? After several attempts at mucking
- around with this a SVGADATA.DOS was created for a Trident 8900. This was
- about 21200 bytes. What I did to produce this, heaven knows ! Is this
- correct ? Anyway this was renamed as SVGADATA.PMI in D:\OS2 directory.
-
- 2. Copied over IBMVGA32.DLL, BVHSVGA.DLL, fonts and the 600x480x256 driver
- as IBMDEV32.DLL. I did not copy the VSVGA.SYS file.
-
- 3. Ensured CONFIG.SYS settings were OK for SVGA.
-
- 4. Rebooted. Machine hung with blank screen, cursor flashing top LH corner.
-
- This is all I have ever managed to get. What am I doing wrong ?
-
- My configuration:- 486/33 DX Clone, AMI Bios
- 16Mb RAM
- 170Mb IDE (Cached controller) Hard disk
- 105 Mb Quantum Plus hardcard
- Trident 8900c display board
- OS/2 2.0 GA + SP.
- Dual boot with Boot Manager
- MSDos 5.0 on drive C:
- OS/2 2.0 on drive D:
