- I have a few questions regarding XGA-2 (on an ISA machine)
- and OS/2...
-
- 1.) The file on ftp-os2 (xgaps2.ann I think) mentions
- that up to eight adapters can be in one machine (at least
- on MCA) at a time. Will this be the case on ISA machines?
- If so, how will OS/2 handle placing the multiple screens
- relative to each other (will it be something like the
- "monitors" control panel on the macintosh, or will OS/2
- be able to handle it). Will it be able to co-exist with
- VGA? Other SVGA adapters?
-
- 2.) Since XGA is a busmastering system, will it be
- able to co-exist with say a Adaptec 1542? I saw someone
- mention this before, but since it seemed to be mentioned
- in passing, I chalked it up to rumor.
-
- 3.) Can anyone give any benchmark figures for it?
- In the file on ftp-os2, IBM mentions that their MCA version
- is about 2.5 times as fast as the XGA (sans 2). Just about
- any information in this area would be helpful, since I have
- no idea how fast/slow the card is. (How does it compare to,
- say, a Tseng card? An ATI Graphics Ultra? Diamond Speedstar
- 24X? As I said, any pointers in this area would be helpful,
- and given XGA-2's speed relative to XGA, any figures for
- XGA would be helpful, as well.)
-
- Thanks in advance.
