  13. A couple of months ago I got OS/2 (as part of the summer promo upgrade
  14. from Windows), but since I had limited disk space, I deinstalled it 
  15. after making sure that OS/2 runs on my system. I haven't got the  October
  16. Service pack, so all I have is the version that existed in July this
  17. year.

  19. Over the last two days, I've attempted to install OS/2 a number of 
  20. times without sucess. I'm using the boot manager, and have tried
  21. installing on both my hard drives, and while the installation itself
  22. seemed to go smoothly (OS/2 accepted all 15 disks plus the first 
  23. printer driver disk), upon rebooting at the end of the install process,
  24. I get the OS/2 logo, and then after some disk activity, a screen which
  25. has the code "c0000005" on the upper left hand corner. The rest of the 
  26. screen is blank.

  28. In the ensuing months, the only difference in my system was that I added
  29. an Iomega Insider 250 tape drive with its fast floppy controller card, and
  30. a Diamond Speedstar 24X. Is there something special I need to do in the 
  31. installation process to get the system up with the Speedstar 24X? What
  32. does the "c0000005" code mean?

  34. For reference, my h/w config is the following: 486-33 clone, AMI bios, 
  35. 8 Mb ram, Speedstar 24X, Soundblaster Pro (irq=5), Iomega fast floopy
  36. controler (for tape driver, irq=3), two Maxtor 7213A drives. I've tried
  37. installing (twice each) to a primary partition on drive 1 and also to an 
  38. extended partition on drive 2. Both cases the target partition was formatted
  39. for HPFS.
