- A couple of months ago I got OS/2 (as part of the summer promo upgrade
- from Windows), but since I had limited disk space, I deinstalled it
- after making sure that OS/2 runs on my system. I haven't got the October
- Service pack, so all I have is the version that existed in July this
- year.
-
- Over the last two days, I've attempted to install OS/2 a number of
- times without sucess. I'm using the boot manager, and have tried
- installing on both my hard drives, and while the installation itself
- seemed to go smoothly (OS/2 accepted all 15 disks plus the first
- printer driver disk), upon rebooting at the end of the install process,
- I get the OS/2 logo, and then after some disk activity, a screen which
- has the code "c0000005" on the upper left hand corner. The rest of the
- screen is blank.
-
- In the ensuing months, the only difference in my system was that I added
- an Iomega Insider 250 tape drive with its fast floppy controller card, and
- a Diamond Speedstar 24X. Is there something special I need to do in the
- installation process to get the system up with the Speedstar 24X? What
- does the "c0000005" code mean?
-
- For reference, my h/w config is the following: 486-33 clone, AMI bios,
- 8 Mb ram, Speedstar 24X, Soundblaster Pro (irq=5), Iomega fast floopy
- controler (for tape driver, irq=3), two Maxtor 7213A drives. I've tried
- installing (twice each) to a primary partition on drive 1 and also to an
- extended partition on drive 2. Both cases the target partition was formatted
- for HPFS.
-
- thanks,
