-
- Let me tell you about Diamond. I used to have a Trident, and they have had
- OS/2 2.0 support since 2.0 was in beta. Then I got a new computer and a
- Stealth. Cool, right? Wrong.
- Round abouts when GA was released, Diamond's BBS had message areas. The
- Stealth areas had a few messages requesting OS/2 2.0 drivers, along with a lot
- of other questions. Over time, I noticed nore and more messages relating to
- OS/2 drivers, and more and more of them were rude (angry customers) due
- to Diamond's lack of response. Suddenly, there were no more message areas at
- all.
-
- Calling Diamond's tech support back then they were saying the same things that
- they are now, I had people tell me that they had started writing OS/2 drivers,
- but they wouldn't be out for a while. I had others say that they had no
- plans to write OS/2 drivers. Now they say they are writing drivers but won't
- be out for a while. There is a message on their tech support line, if you
- push a number on the phone you get information about OS/2 drivers. This is
- the same message they have had on there since I guess they got tired of
- talking to OS/2 people.
-
- It says that they don't have any OS/2 drivers and
- are waiting on the chip manufacturer to privide them with one (s3). It
- shows me that they just don't want to deal with OS/2 people or requests
- for drivers because this message has been on there for months and supposedly
- they have just started writing drivers.
-
- Another thing is that someone posted a message that S3 had released drivers
- to OEMs to modify and release for their respective cards. I just called
- Diamond again today (I called yesterday too) and the guy was short with me
- and stated emphatically that s3 had not given them drivers and that work on
- the Stealth drivers had just commenced and that they wouldn't be ready for
- a long time. No time soon for sure (that's what he said).
-
- Anyway I am beginning to really get mad at Diamond. Does anyone know if
- and when XGA-2 ISA cards will be produced, and about how much they will cost?
- Does anyone want to by a Stealth VRAM (it'll be in pieces).
-
- bye
