  12. I asked ATI about programming the Ultra Plus and Ultra pro, using
  13. direct writes to video memory, not the accelerator.

  17. Point one: this appears to be straightforward, especially using the
  18. 32-bit memory aperture.

  20. Point two: you **have** to use this method to access the video ram in
  21. 24 bit color mode. It in fact says that. It does not say, but perhaps 
  22. implies, that the accelerator does not work in 24 bit color mode. Perhaps
  23. it works, but you just cannot directly access the memory. Maybe this
  24. is why Windows drivers are not available (yet) in 24 bit color modes.
