- Well, folks, the previous (the other day) mystery has been fixed 97% after the
- invaluable advice from u guys. After all, I think it might be caused by a
- defective expansion slot or multi I/O card...However, the problem is still
- coming for my Paradise (compatible) SVGA with 512KB. It supposes to run windows
- in 640x480x256 mode. But for no reason, everytime I run under this display set-
- ting, my computer will lock up after moving the MOUSE for a while. The situatio
- n is better if I only use keystrokes to open windows or choose the icon. And I
- do run some graphic viewer software like WINGIF in 256 colors with no problem
- as long as I don't move the mouse. Needless to say, it is extremely stupid not
- to use a mouse in Windows (at least nobody do it as I know). Moreover, at the
- time I warm boot my PC, the screen will be messed up like snow storm.
-
- So, for all u genius, do u have any advices or idea:
-
- Personally, I think the reason may be:
- 1. SVGA card has not enough memory (512kb?)
- 2. SVGA driver only support Windows 3.0 (since it changes the logo to Win 3.0)
- 3. SVGA has some conflict with my mouse either in hardware or software
- 4. EMM386 makes the SVGA mode disable?
-
- The following is my PC layout:
- Intel 386DX/25Mhz, 4MB ram, 64 cache, 15 MB uncompressed HD space, 60 MB
- compressed (stacker 2.0) HD space, 2.0 MB used in Win swap file.
-
- Thanks in advance!
