- Ditto. You'd think that since Canada couldn't be much closer to the
- US than it is (in fact Redmond is pretty darned close to Vancouver),
- and since many of MS's developers are Canadian ex-pats, that we'd
- get service similar to that in the States. Not so. Although things
- are getting better (especially since the start of the MS Developer
- Network) we are still a month or more behind the US in getting development
- tools. Not as bad as Oz or Europe, perhaps, but still not good.

- There are those who believe (not including me) that MS gives priority to US
- developers as a way of appeasing the US government. The FTC is not as likely
- to crack down, the theory goes, on a company which is the dominant worldwide
- force in S/W and gives an edge to developers State-side.
-
- I suspect the slowness is due to several factors:
- - customs delays/tariffs
- - lack of staff/interest at MS branch offices
- - having thousands of boxes to ship and wanting to get the easy ones (i.e.,
- US shipments without paperwork) out of the way first.
