- In a recent demo put on by Microsoft, the representatives were describing the
- e-mail capabilities of the product. One item which caught my attention was
- the mention of a return receipt feature which provides the ability for a user
- to get a response back after a message is successfully delivered. (It was not
- clear whether the message was sent upon receipt of the message by the target
- machine or when the message was actually read). The MS rep said that the
- executable code to provide the return receipt was part of the sent message and
- was executed by the target machine. Is this indeed the case? I was not able
- to follow-up on the issue due to the group environment of the demo, but this
- causes nagging concerns. Can anyone provide more details on how this works
- and what protections are built in to prevent potential abuse?
