- I just upgraded from Windows 3.0 to 3.1, using a 386SX with 2MB RAM.
- Because I did not have any customization information I needed to save,
- and because I didn't have room on my disk to upgrade by writing over
- 3.0, I erased all 3.0 files and did a complete new install.
-
- 3.1 starts in standard mode, as is expected with my 2MB of RAM, and it
- works properly, except that I get an out-of-memory message when I try to
- use the Help feature. However, when I force it to start in enhanced mode
- (using the /3 switch), the mouse does not respond at all. This occurred
- after the Windows installation, after manually copying mouse.sys to
- c:\windows (where config.sys was looking for it) from installation Disk
- 8, and after running the mouse setup routines on installation Disk 8
- from within Windows 3.0.
-
- How is it possible for the mouse to work properly in standard mode but
- not in enhanced mode? All modes worked properly in 3.0.
-
- Thanks,
-
- David
