- Twice in the last two months I have installed WordPerfect for Windows
- 5.1 (4/30/92) on new corporate LAN's at the request of various
- departments. Twice now, I have had so many General Protection Faults in
- the product that I have removed it and replaced it with Microsoft Word
- for Windows 2.0a (my own preference).
-
- In both cases, the Dr. Watson logs indicated the program was not
- conflicting with memory addresses in use by other programs, but rather
- was writing over memory areas in use by itself. (i.e. wpwinfil.exe)
-
- This was not a minor annoyance, this was utterly unusable. I have had
- no success resolving this with WordPerfect technical support.
-
- I have always had excellent results with Microsoft Word for Windows
- 2.0a, but WordPerfect for DOS has been our corporate standard for years
- and many users would prefer to migrate to their windows product.
-
- The nature of the error is such that it doesn't seem to be a
- configuration issue, but rather bugs in the program. There are no
- unusual TSRs being loaded from DOS or other programs running in Windows
- 3.1.
-
- Any thoughts or similar experiences???
