- Our office just updated to the HP Laserjet 4M, and it's in a dual
- OS situation, mostly serving the Macs, but from time to time I send
- a print job from windows. We have a Garamond font that we use as
- our office standard lettering, it's the crucial point of our logo.
-
- I've taken the Garamond font from the mac and installed it in ATM
- in Windows 3.1. My problem is that the 'printer' fonts show up in
- the font selection window, such as ITCGaramond, and Garamond Three,
- but my installed Garamond, which is Garamond Light Italic from Linotype
- doesn't show in the selection, and I get a warning message from the
- MS Works saying my garamond doesn't match the printer garamond. Well
- that's correct, I don't want the printer garamond. My question is
- twofold, how do I set this up correctly, and how can I make ATM work
- in sync with MS Works for Windows, so that it can use the installed
- fonts I've got?
-
- Also, on a related note, the Kerning of the printer fonts is just
- terrible! Italic 'We' is spread way too far apart for even the
- most novice user. What can I do to improve this, since it's using
- printer fonts and not ATM fonts? I'm assuming it's not reading any
- AFM files that I could load. I've settled on using New Century Schoolbook
- for my text body, but the office requires at least Garamond Light Italic
- for the logo line.
-
- Other than this, the HP Laserjet4M is a wonderful printer, the 600 dpi
- resolution is really camera ready, so very crisp.
- Any help would be appreciated!\
