- Here's my problem. I have a ramdrive installed on my system. It occured to
- me today that I could run Stacker (2.0) on it to get a little more milage for
- my memory. I had the Stacker install program stack the entire ramdrive. I
- knew that the STACVOL.000 file would be erased every tme I powerd off, so
- I used ARJ to back it up on my hard drive. No problem. In my autoexec file
- I just have the file replaced and the Stacker drive mounted every time the
- machine boots.
-
- Here's the catch. I use 4DOS (v. 4.01), and I use the 4DOS.INI file to tell it
- to use the ramdrive for it's swap files. 4DOS is initialized in my CONFIG.SYS
- file, but the replacing of the STACVOL file (and mounting) doesn't occur until
- autoexec is run. I want to have the swap files on the stacked drive, but the
- only way I can see to do that is to replace and mount the drive BEFORE 4DOS
- is initialized -- but this is in config.sys!
-
- Is there ANY way to run external commands from my config.sys file? There
- must be some utility program out there that can do this...
-
- Am I missing something easy here?
-
- Any help would be appreciated.
-
- Thanks.
