  12. Contrary to what I have said in the past about not doing an update to
  13. Macminix until 2.0, I just got 1.6.24 (== IBM 1.6.24) running and have
  14. decided to post it after the holidays. In addition to the regular stuff
  15. that ast & co have added to this version (big file systems, etc.),
  16. the mac version contains all new and updated ansi compatible ROM
  17. interface files (/usr/lib/mac and /usr/src/lib/mac), incorporating
  18. the stuff from inside mac volumes V and VI.

  20. Good news for the GNU fans: The mac interface libraries have been
  21. rewritten and are all in C now, except for a 100 lines or so of assembler.
  22. User level programs no longer call the ROM directly, but will go through
  23. a kernel task.

  25. There are a number of cosmetic changes, and I sort of have the networking
  26. stuff working through the toolbox, but I doubt I will try to incorporate it
  27. into this release.
