I bought AST's Minix book way back when it first came out. It is not the PC version and therein lies the problem. I am now thinking of trying out the program listing in the book and I wonder if after everything is entered(!), will the code work? I really dread shelling out more money for the same book but the PC-edition (indeed, is the PC-edition complete in itself? Then the question may become buying the PC-Edition or the diskettes), and I also will like to avoid spending money for the disks. Can someone

  22. tell me what is missing in the book and maybe where I can get that which is missing (hopefully on Internet). For instance, (1) the assembler looks different, (2) what compiler will I need, (3) can I start implementing Minix on a DOS machine? etc
