- I've been trying to get lpd to work correctly, and failing miserably. I
- have no idea what is going wrong, since I saved a message from
- wmitchell@atl.ge.com and followed his directions. My printcap has the
- following entry:
-
- lp|epson:lp=/dev/lp0:sd=/usr/spool/lp0:lf=/usr/adm/lpd-errs:
-
- (That is the only line not commented out.)
-
- Now my problem. I run lpd in my rc.local, and it doesn't stay running. It
- exits immediately. (Nothing in ps...) If I run lpr, I get:
-
- lpr: connect: invalid argument
- jobs queued, but cannot start daemon
-
- and a lpq gets:
-
- Warning: no daemon present
- but besides that the standard stuff
-
- If I now run lpd, it prints out the file, but doesn't stick around again.
- It seems to be queueing fine. My only problem is that lpd doesn't stay
- running in the background.
-
- I have 0.99 w/ tcp/ip compiled in, but no other TCP/IP daemons. (Is that my
- problem?)
-
- Thanks!
