- Overall, I like the idea of making Linux superior to any OS available.
- There are some great things about unix and then there are some pain
- in the *ss things. I must admit that I was a VMS system admin./programmer
- for a couple of years. I also was into OS-9. I think Linux is the
- best thing to come around in a long, long time. I also think that
- it could be a good platform for some good experiments in new/revised
- unix utilities. There is probably some application out there
- that people wish was a lot simpler.

- I disagree. A standard file of parameters is a simple way to tune
- the kernel. What price will be paid by the kernel to read these
- parameters? I think it is an excellent idea.
-
- I am an earnest believer in not rebooting a kernel. This doesn't mean
- you should tune it on the fly with a debugger like this guy Marcus
- Watts used to do (Altos Unix systems). I believe loadable and
- configurable device drivers would be great, also. It would also
- be nice to have a selectable parameter file; just in case the other
- one gets tuned incorrectly.
-
- On system accouting, it would be a nice option. Those who will need
- it will probably create it.

- Ok, flame to my account, ...I love DCL! and I love tcsh! I love
- vi! ... and I love edt! Now, I am assembling a system to be
- a home for Linux.
