  24. The troubles with .99 seem mostly to be due to the fact that SLS had
  25. two .99 releases, within one day of each other.

  27. The first release didn't have the two line patch, Linus subsequently 
  28. posted.   What is amazing is how many people that downloaded the old
  29. one.  So let me repeat my plea:

  31. If you are even the slightest bit cautious, wait at least a week
  32. before downloading SLS after an upgrade.  Just check the date
  33. on the HISTORY file, and if it is at least a week old, you should
  34. be ok.

  36. SLS does not have a beta/alpha test group.  It is just to large.  And
  37. due to my retooling my system to gcc 2.3/libc.4.2/Interviews, I was
  38. not able to test install the first .99 release.

  40. In short, the upgrade to .99 should be ok now.
