  10. I'm running SLS .98p5.  Everything works OK when I run xdm -nodaemon
  11. from the command line.

  13. I then tried xdm -nodaemon at the bottom of rc.local.  I first
  14. commented out the first getty in /etc/inittab.  After rebooting,
  15. the xlogin window comes up, and I log in as root.  Cool.
  16.  
  17. Then my .xsession executes, setting the color of the root window
  18. putting up xclock, putting up two xter... WAIT... WHERE ARE MY TWO
  19. XTERMS?  So I try the Xterm selection in the twm menu.  Nothing.

  21. Later, I check my .xsession-errors file, and it looks like I have a
  22. line for each failed attempt to start an xterm.  The line reads:

  24.     Xterm: Error 19, error 14: no such device.
  25.  
  26. (I'm away from home, so this is from memory.  I'm quite sure those
  27. are the error numbers.)

  29. Somebody out there must have xdm up and running from rc, rc.local,
  30. or wherever.  I'd appreciate if you could fill me in on what you
  31. had to do to set things up.  Thanks in advance.
