- Well,
-
- Rick at Always has just informed me that they now have a Tech reference
- manual available for the IN-2000 card:
-
- rick@always responded to a letter ->

- [Preamble deleted]
-
- ->Not sure if I replied to this already, but our technical document for
- ->the IN-2000 is available for $50 U.S. You can order it as "IN-2000
- ->Hardware Reference Manual" from our support department (818-597-9591).
- ->It contains information on talking to the hardware, and for our "SCSI
- ->shell". The Shell is not recommended for new stuff, and does not work
- ->well in 32 bit mode. The HW document is failry complete, but requires
- ->a certain amount of "intuition".
- ->
- ->We have a basic driver scheme which we will be porting to many
- ->environments. It is the basis of our ASPI for DOS, Novell and SCO
- ->Unix. It is also being ported for our NT driver. Hopefully, with
- ->this new driver "core" we will be able to accomidate more OS'es much
- ->more rapidly.

- Now, I have 0 intuition, and $50 is rather steep, but for the sake of
- making some use of these 3 IN-2000 cards I have, I'd be willing to pitch
- in $25(half) to have the book sent to Eric (I think that's his name) or
- whoever is maintaining the SCSI code. I just don't know enough about
- SCSI commands and requirements to make decent driver code. I'd even be
- willing to forward a card to this individual to use while developing the
- driver.
-
- If he's not willing, I *MAY* fork over the whole amount at a later date,
- and try it myself, but from what I've seen of the Linux Kernel code, It
- ain't a whole lot like the SCO driver I hacked together a while back,
- and I know ZIP about SCSI coding. (Can you say learning curve?)
