  10. I have to questions. First some beginings
  11. I have the Gateway 2000 66mhz/486dx2 with 325 meg ide hdd and 8meg ram.
  12. 15" crystal scan monitor and telepath modem
  13.  
  14. I downloaded the a,b,c and x sls disks today and put them on floppies.
  15. I had allready installed the base linux system(disks a only) and
  16. everything was working. I went to install the remainder using sysinstall and
  17. the menu system but I was unable to get linux to use my b drive instead of my
  18. a: drive. Drive b is 31/2" a is 51/4 ". Due to this
  19. I repartitioned my hard drive and went the long way around to completely
  20. reinsall linux. I did the doinstall /dev/hda3 and it prompted my for
  21. my disks.
  22. the installation od the A disks went fine when it said to insert disk b1
  23. I did and hit return. This is the error message I got:
  24. <file name> ...tar: Unexpected EOF on archive file
  25. tar: child died with signal 11(core dumped)
  26. it said the same thing for all files on b1 then said
  27. unmount /dev/fd1h1440 Device busy or missing
  28.  
  29. I am confused> icannot find any reason for this.
  30. I downloaded disks a1-a4 to my pc directly from my school unix account but
  31. I used mtools on a sun sparc to copy b,c,and x to floppies. Could this be the
  32. trouble? Do I need to transfer to my pc then to my floppies? Oh. I also
  33. formatted those b,c and x flopies usinf fdformat on a sun.,.
  34.  
  35. How can I install from b: drive after I have just installed minimal system
  36. and switched to the menus by booting from floppy and using ard drive?
