- Hi, all linuxers.
-
- It seem to me I'm not the first one asking this, but I'm not so sure...
- It would be a great thing if the lx??.taz package, in the SLS distibtion,
- had in it the kernel source *used* to build the kernel in the same
- Image.taz package. I mean, once you have installed it (and lxpatches.taz),
- you can go to /linux, make dep clean all and obtain the same kernel you
- have. So it would very simple to make the little modifications often used.
-
- More simple, put in image.taz a file with the chosing done to build the kernel.
- This could suffice for me...
-
- I was nor be able to mount an efs file system (I have SLS 0.98pl5 dist
- upgraded to 0.99 kernel, with the "unofficial" patch from linus), my
- mount say something like "Unknown error 26240". (I think I have made
- all quite right, changed the parttion type to 83, rebooted, mkefs the
- partition, but then... no mount! Does I have to change the mount command? )
- I think efs is compiled released by the SLS 0.99 kernel (or not?).
-
- And another little question: when I do "make dep" I have some error from
- #error line. I think they are there to say things like "...you cannot
- choose no keyboard at all..." and similar. So, is it normal have this
- line parsed during "make dep"? Perhaps "make dep" stress all the branch
- of #ifdef... and I have not to worry, only comment out and go, or what?
-
- I have installed Linux from SLS on a laptop and it's working perfectly
- for me, anyway, I have all I need - X, TeX, xfig, gnuplot - and at an
- acceptable performance, thinking my machine is only a 386/25 w/o 387,
- 4Mram, B/W VGA only. Thank you Linux wizard for the great Xmas gift!
-
- Bye,
- Romano.
-
- PS Does anyone need a xfig patched against the XDrawArc well-known bug
- in X386mono?
