  18. The auto-detecting floppy devices (/dev/fd0 and /dev/fd1) don't know
  19. the format after a media change and fdformat obviously has no way to
  20. "probe" the format.

  22. You either have to:
  23.   - access the floppy after inserting it but before formatting. This
  24.     only works if the floppy has already been formatted and you want
  25.     to re-format it in the same format.
  26.   - use setfdprm to define the desired format after inserting the
  27.     floppy.
  28.   - use the fixed-format devices (/dev/fd0H* etc.)
