- Well, I consider waiting a few seconds to bring a window back to the
- foreground quite tolerable. Xterms generally come back much, much
- quicker. Staring an application for the first time requires a little
- longer a wait. Xv can take up to a minute if I am loading a JPEG, but
- then again loading a JPEG pic is not generally done super fast. Also,
- once Xdvi is up, keep it up. The information inside can be updated
- with a simple ^L in the window. So waiting a few to several seconds,
- for most applications, I imagine is quite satisfactory.

- One experiment you might try is to turn off backing store in your
- .twmrc (if you use twm). Keeping backing store info could increase
- your memory usage very substantially. Again, I am a relative newbie,
- so take this with a grain of salt. But if you try this, post or mail
- your results - they may be interesting.
